About

My Journey and Vision for Radical

  • I’ve faced discrimination throughout my life, being registered blind and raising two children of mixed heritage as a single parent.
  • The repeated experience of being disregarded or labeled ‘not good enough’ due to my identity has, over time, created cracks in my confidence.
  • Every rejection or negative response from employers who fail to recognize radical talent only deepens these cracks.
  • I’ve learned a great deal from my children, who now face disadvantage because of the color of their skin.
  • What drives me, what truly makes me roar, is encountering those who refuse to admit that bias exists and who ignore the social injustices faced by those who ‘don’t fit the mould.’

My Vision for Radical

  • I want Radical to be the trusted partner for businesses with the genuine aspiration to deliver on their diversity agenda.
  • We aim to be the critical best friend that helps these businesses achieve true representation at all levels of their organization.
  • Our approach is collaborative: we walk shoulder to shoulder with employers who bravely admit they need to improve.
  • We support them through the challenges, helping to iterate when things don’t go as planned.
  • And when they deliver on their diversity agenda, we’ll be there to celebrate their success.

Creating Fundamental Change

By driving fundamental change within businesses, we encourage people to

  • Rip off their labels
  • Uncap their aspirations
  • Start to repair the cracks in their confidence that society has created.

My Experience and Role at Radical Recruit

  • With over 20 years of experience working in the Charity Sector, I lead Early Careers initiatives at Radical.
  • I’m also focused on helping to build Radical Recruit, the charity funded by B-Radical.
  • I was one of the first blind students to be educated in a mainstream school, and I fought hard for the same opportunities as my sighted peers.
  • Despite choosing not to attend university, I’m passionate about reimagining early careers provisions to ensure inclusivity from the point of entry.
  • I believe that getting diversity right at the start is key to building a diverse leadership team for tomorrow.
